A recent Ofsted report has found Parkside Primary School continues to be rated ‘Good’ and offers a place where everyone is welcome.

Inspectors visited the school on Tuesday, June 10 and Wednesday, June 11. During their visit to the school the inspectors spoke to pupils, teachers and found the students behave well and are polite.

The report states that “The school has high expectations for pupils’ achievement. “These aspirations are not reflected in the school’s published outcomes. “Pupils have many opportunities to develop their wider interests and skills. “For example, they take part in regional singing concerts, sports tournaments and talent shows. “They enjoy problem-solving and learning about the natural environment in the school’s wilderness area.” The report continues: “Teachers have secure subject knowledge. “They regularly check pupils’ understanding through assessment and retrieval tasks such as ‘flashback fours’. “They teach lessons which are logically sequenced. “This allows pupils to develop their understanding of these subjects. “Pupils recap prior learning which helps them to remember important knowledge. “For example, in science pupils recall the names of different bones before learning about the role of the human skeleton.” To improve, the inspectors suggest “the school should ensure that the new strategies and approaches are well embedded and that all pupils achieve as well as they should.” As well as ensuring quality assurance of the curriculum is implemented across all subjects. Headteacher of Parkside Primary School, Sam O’Brien said: “We are incredibly proud of everyone in our Parkside community for their hard work and dedication which is reflected in our report. “We would like to thank everyone involved . “The report reflects our ongoing commitment to providing an inclusive education for all. “We remain firmly committed to continuous improvement and will use the feedback from the report to build on our strengths further and strive for greater outcomes for all.”
